Kari: Not knitting but..........holiday craft

Well, it's not knitting but this is what Jaimey and I have worked on this week. A Christmas Card Tree. We started with two pieces of foam board taped together. Then I free-hand drew a tree shape. We cut it out with an exacto-knife and then used spray adhesive to secure the felt to the board. I cut off the excess and then used fabric glue to secure the edges. We did the same for the star. A little red sparkle-y rick-rack and some ornament buttons glued only on the bottom half should hold the cards. We plan to glue extra paperclips (probably green) to the tree so that we can hold more photos/cards. I glued a ribbon to the back tip of the tree so we can hang it on the wall.

We've had another card tree for many years but the cardboard finally wore down (it had slits in the cardboard for the card to slip into and then it was held up on the wall with thumbtacks). I must admit that mine is much cuter than the original but the test will be when all those wonderful cards from family and friends start arriving in the mailbox.

So now it's back to knitting those Christmas gifts.

That's very cute! So...um....I suppose I'd better actually address and mail those cards that are sitting on my kitchen table? :)

UPDATE: The little buttons won't hold a regular card but they work fine for the photo cards. No pressure, as I write, I'm wondering if I'll get my own cards out this year. :0)
